What is Fiesta San Antonio?

Fiesta San Antonio started in 1891 as a one-parade event as a way to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. It has evolved into one of this nation’s premier festivals with an economic impact of more than $340 million for the Alamo City. Fiesta is the Party with a Purpose with funds raised by official Fiesta events going to provide services to San Antonio citizens throughout the year...and, even though that commemoration still takes place annually, for more than a century now Fiesta has grown into a celebration of San Antonio’s rich and diverse cultures.

History of the Fiesta Medals

FiestaMedals.com began as an idea in the late 1970's when then Lt. Col. Leon Childers was active-duty Army, stationed at Fort Sam Houston. As an avid Volksmarcher during his tour in Germany, he saw first-hand how medals were used to generate fun and enthusiasm among recipients. Col. Childers was looking for an idea to generate camaraderie with the general public during Fiesta events and came up with the idea of making a military looking medal, that was "Fiesta" themed, for the General to hand out during select events. As you can imagine, it was a hit!

The Texas Corvette Association's Annual Open Car Show is held during Fiesta and is the only Fiesta sanctioned event that is held outside of San Antonio. TCA was granted status as a Fiesta event back in 2007 and is still going strong today!

Below are some of the commemorative medals of previous years. TCA's annual car show medal goes on sale at the Fiesta store in downtown San Antonio just before TCA's Open Car Show in April in downtown Boerne. Supplies are limited so, when they’re gone, they're gone!
