Corvette Assembly Plant & Tour Information

o Bowling green plant opened in 1981

* Consists of 212 acres and the plant has one million square feet or 17 football fields and employs 900 people
* Since 1954 produced 1.6 million corvettes
* 2017 added a $290 million investment (total $439 million) for a new dedicated paint shop and upgrades in technology and manufacturing processes

o Assembly plant tour

* Canceled for 18 months: June 16, 2017 to January 2019 due to major changes how the corvettes are assembled and integration of the new paint facility (quote from the NCM closed for retooling)
* Corvette engine build for new owners also cancelled
* Speculation on production of the mid-engine C-8 2020 at the same time the C-7 will continue for three more years
